PROPERTY WORK PLAN / MAPPING GUIDE
WHAT THE VEGETATION
MAP TELLS US.
Queensland’s vegetation maps help start a conversation about work on your property. They show regulatory categories, not a measure of how dense the trees are or permission to clear.
READING THE MAP
COLOUR IS A STARTING POINT.
White / Category X: land outside mapped Categories A, B, C and R. General clearing may be possible, but other laws, approvals, conditions and physical site constraints still need checking.
Dark blue / Category B: mapped remnant vegetation. Light blue / Category C: mapped high-value regrowth. Work such as weed control, access or fire management may have a pathway, depending on the purpose and the applicable rules. Broad clearing is not assumed.
Category A and Category R: areas with additional regulatory considerations, including declared, offset or compliance areas and some watercourse regrowth areas. We flag these for closer review.
WHEN MORE WORK IS PROPOSED
THERE MAY BE A PATHWAY.
In mapped remnant or regrowth areas, the route depends on the purpose of the work, land tenure, mapped category and site conditions. We can discuss the work with you, then confirm which approvals or specialist advice are needed.
Possible routes include exempt clearing work, an accepted development vegetation clearing code, an area management plan, or a development approval. Some activities need notification before work; an approval is not available for every proposed purpose.
If you believe the vegetation category itself is wrong, Queensland also has a process to apply for a property map of assessable vegetation (PMAV) or a map correction. A PMAV changes mapping only where the State accepts the evidence.
